Battle of Cait by davemetlesits Battle of Cait by davemetlesits
The first battle of the Federation-Kzinti War. The Battle of Cait liberated the besieged planet but due to its haphazard organization on the side of the Federation, many ships were damaged and an irrationally high number of lives were lost. The Caitian population was decimated by the Kzinti, leading to the Federation declaring total war against the Patriarchy...

Great job! I used to watch Star Trek when I was a kid back in the seventies. I couldn't get enough of it.  The ships with only one warp engine are destroyers, I imagine.

I heard a about the Patriarchy, but I never seen it nor heard in the series. Yet. And not much about the Caitians either. But I hope we get to see more of them.

The Kzinti and the Caitians both appeared in the animated Star Trek series.

I read about it on Memory-Alpha, but I never seen the STA series. I wish though.

I have to tell you, I took only the name and appearance of the Kzinti race. In my interpretation, they are much more grim a threat than in TAS. If you have seen the series "Firefly", you'll know what I mean by my Kzinti being more similar to the Reavers. Anyway, in the Polarisverse, the Kzinti would make the Klingons and the Romulans appear harmless had they had the needed numbers and technology. And they literally eat their enemies. Not in some cookie-cutter Klingon ritual, but as real food. They are the nightmares of the borderworlders...

God. If they make Klingons look like Richard Simmons, then the Federation is going to need a stronger military back bone. If you know what I mean.

The Klingons are bad as a military threat. Them and the Romulans in the East make Starfleet concentrate on those territories. Actually, ENT, TOS and most of TNG concentrated on these sectors. The West is covered by DS9, but by then, the Kzinti are dealt with and the Cardassians emerged as the powerful enemy of the West.

In the Polarisverse RPG, the TNG era Polaris Sunbombed them. In "Canon" Polaris, I don't know...

Nice! This has "Down with the Enterprise" written all over it... and you've got to admit it does make the best battle music for this scene: [link]

Polaris is right where she should be, leading the charge.

The Polaris was the "bannership" of this battle, something like a substitute flagship for the First Fleet.

Total war? 'Till I see a Defender-class battleship, the Federation is still holding back (even with Federation-class dreadnoughts around).

Like the USS Inaieu, with as much firepower as three dreadnoughts. You know the Federation wants you dead when one of those monsters lead its fleet. Ask the Romulans: in an engagement on the Neutral Zone involving a couple of particularly nasty technologies (namely one to steal telepatic power and one to use stars as weapon), three Romulan Stormbirds engaged the Inaieu and were obliterated in a matter of seconds, without giving the warp cores the time to explode.

Sadly, it appeared only in books, with no pictures. The only description we have is that the monster has four nacelles twice as long as a Constitution-class starship, has been developed with Excelsior-like technology (or the Excelsior-class has been developed from it), the saucer is twice as large as a Constitution-class starship and the engineriing hull is long one mile and large one quarter.

And the fact the Inaieu is usually on Romulan Zone patrol may tell us something about how the Federation feels about the Romulan Empire...

This is awesome! It reminds me of that space battle in ST: DS9, when Sisko is taking back DS9 from the Dominion and the two Miranda Class starships escorting the Defiant get blown away. Also, when the Enterprise took that torpedo hit in ST: TUC. The beam through the ships hull is excellent.
