I agree. Even with all of these new designs, she's still my favorite. ^_^

I hope we see a new version of her in one of the new movies, or maybe Ryan Church will contribute a design for a future calendar.

She was always more of a curvier ship, which fits in pretty well with the curvy, more organic, more blended aesthetic we see in the 2009 movie timeline.

I sure hope Ryan Church leaves the Excelsior alone or I'll have to go completely Jackie Chan on his ass!

Well, let's put it this way: at least all of that happens in an alternate reality that will never have anything to do with the classic canon timeline again. So the original version of Excelsior won't be touched, and we get to see someone else's take on the classic design instead.

Personally, I've always been a fan of the concept of a theme and variations, so I actually like to see different takes on classic ideas. Part of what makes something classic so "classic" is that the idea is so strong that it lives on through the ages and can even be open to interpretation.

They do this kind of redesign stuff every couple of years with the great classic car lineages and I don't hear anyone complaining. =P
