The Excelsior has only moments before she's caught in the explosion wave...

The Excelsior used to be my uncontested #1 favorite ship class. I was a navy fan when I was a kid, as well as a Trekkie since age 4, and I loved Excelsior because her smooth lines made her look closer to a nautical ship. Nowadays, she is getting a little competition from the "Future" Enterprise-D when it comes to favorite ships... but I still would not command any other vessel if I had the choice.

So, our love for this proud lady is something we have in common. Keep churning out those scenes, they're absolutely breathtaking.

Oh, no problem... it's just breathtaking to see the ol' girl in action like that. I still think that if I could have any Federation vessel to command, it would be an Excelsior - possibly a unique variant Excelsior with a few tune-ups and some extra tricks up her sleeves. ^_^

At first, I thought you had rendered the subspace shock wave yourself. To this day, I wonder how they accomplished that visual effect in the movie... considering it was 1991, and atmospheric CGI effects didnt exist yet.

Well, even the V'Ger colud was pretty advanced and it was from 1979...

The V'Ger cloud scene was layered airbrush animation. It was quite a beautiful scene indeed. I dont know if they used the same technique on the praxis wave or not... but they dont say on any of the commentaries, I dont think

Wow, majdnem olyan mint a filmben, csak ott nem ennyire lilás ha jól emlékszem (de sebaj ;) ). Egy kérdés: ez a robbanáshullám is 3D mesh cucc, vagy Photoshoppal készült?

Awesome piece of art dave, but before another Trek fan points it out to you, it's Praxis, not Praxus :D
