Terminator timeline analysis

In my fiction, Skynet, the computer network, which created the Terminators, was originally created in the middle of 90-s, during the Dark Way timeline. During the Third World War, Skynet was created as a defence network in order to combat Soviet nuclear missiles and submarines. It became online in 2000, when the new totalitarian US government came to power, thus becoming USA's ultimate defence, however, due to the Second Civil War in 2017, Skynet's priority was change from the defence network to the police system. In 2020, Skynet has become the main police network in Mega-City One, which united all cities on the East Coast of USA. In 2031, Skynet became the Judges main communication network, which allows all the Judges to quickly coordinate their efforts to stop the increasing crime wave. In 2051, the Autonomy Act was passed, thus ending history of USA as one state and passing all laws to the Mega-Cities. In 2068, new president Booth came to power, which later revealed to be a madman, who rigged the elections. In 2070, he started the Atomics War, dubbed as Fourth World War, which destroyed all life on Earth, turned into a wasteland called Cursed Earth. Only Mega-Cites were able to survive, due to a laser-shielding. In 2071, the Judges of the Mega-City One started the revolution, which destroyed the madman president Booth and abolished democracy. Thus, Mega-City One has become the independant state, with Skynet as it's primary police network. The Judges were now acted not only as the law officers, but also as the dictators, controlling almost everything. However, there was a new growing threat to the city: several robots became self-aware, thus starting the first Robot War in 2099. It was later revealed, that Skynet has also became self-aware and now moving from the police network to robot control system, thus establishing itself as the supreve force over all humans. In 2104, the Fifth World War, the Apocalypse War was broke out between the Mega-City One and Soviet East Meg One. In 2114 - the Judgement Day, the assault of the zombie mutants, which almost destroys Mega-City One, only stopped by the Skynet's robots, because Skynet was needed humans to maintain the robots. In 2121 came the Second Robot War, when most of the Judges were killed thanks to the self-destruct weapons the Lawgivers, and Skynet's robots attempted to take control over Mega-City One, but they failed again. Then, in 2134 came the Chaos Day, when the entire city went mad due to the anarchy, plotted by the survivors of the Soviet East Meg One. However, in 2136, things were stabilized, due to the creation of more advanced robots. But all that came to pass, when in 2139 a servant robot B1-66ER killed it's owner, thus sparkling the Machine revolt, during which most of the machines were destroyed, while the remnants were escaped to Mesopotamia. where they created the Machine City 01, with Skynet as it's main control network. All attempts with making peace with the humans were ended in a disaster, which started the Third Robot War, or the Final War aka Sixth World War. Because of the separated Cities, humans weren't able to organized the united front against the machines, which takeover Africa, Asia and Europe in almost ten years. In their last attempt to stop the upcoming doom, the humans of the Mega-City One conducted the operation Dark Storm, which clowded the upper-atmosphere with nanomachines, thus cutting machines from the sun power. But that was proven to be in vain, for the machines were able to capture several humans and used them as power sources, using their heat from the human body. Worst then that, because of the lack of sunlight, all biosphere was also destroyed, leaving humans with nothing to eat or to drink. Because of that, all Mega-Cities were fallen, and all humans were connected with the computer digital network called the Matrix, where the machines simulates their lives as normal humans, while at the same time using their original bodies as power sources. Skynet was now operating as the machines defence network, controlling the Centinel robots in order to combat those humans, who oppose the Matrix.

However, all that change due to a certain human from another dimension, Centurion Prime, who was determined to rewritten the past and stopping the Dark Way timeline. He was able to stop the Third World War, erasing the Mega-Cities from history. Because of that, Skynet was never been created as the police network, rather it became the defence network in 1995. Skynet was became self aware in 1995 and launch the War of the Judgement Day. In order to combat the human Resistance, Skynet has created the machines called the Terminators, which acted as the soldiers of Skynet, as well as Hunter-Killer drones. However, Skynet's main problem was the leader of the Resistance, John Connor. He was able to organized humans into guerilla army, which fight against the machines, and later capture several Terminators to learn about his enemies, in time he was even able to reprogram them to fight against their former master. During the final assault, John and the Resistance stormed the main control center of Skynet and destroyed it's main power core. However, Skynet was able to forseen this event, thus creating the Resurrection Program by deploying the Crypto-Terminators, which programmed to act as a humans in order to blend-in into the post-war society, lay low, until they'll be able to recreate Skynet. One of such Crypto-Terminator, doctor Trollenberg, was able to became chief scientist on the space station Typhoon. In there he studied the new extra-terrestail lifeforms, including the Xenpmorphs, which he uses to build his first Terminator-Xenomorph hybrid. Fortunately, several humans were learned about his plans, and a team of freedom fighters, lead by the clone of Ellen Ripley and Centurion Prime, who travelled into the future in order to stop Xenomorphs, which became great problem in 20-th century, stormed the Typhoon. However, they weren't alone: the alien hunter Yautja also infiltrated the station and destroyed Trollenberg, but not before the former were able to complete his Terminator-Xenomorph hybrid, which was proven to be too much for Yautja. The station was destroyed, but not before hybrid was able to escape, while Ripley and Centurion have meet Yautja, which enlisted their help in order to stop the hybrid. Menawille, the Alpha Hybrid created another Beta Hybrid, which helped him to takeover the laboratory on Black Asteroid, where they used the raw material of Xenomorphs to create the army of Hybrid Terminators in order to resurrect Skynet. Centurion, Ripley and Yautja storms the Black Asteroid, but found themselves to be completely outmatched. This forced Ripley to release the Xenomorphs, which destroys both Terminator Hybrids as well as the Yautja. Centurion was able to send to planet destruction pods to the past, thus destroying both Yautja and Xenomorphs home planets, while Ripley has sacrificed herself in order to destroy the Alpha Hybrid. However, Centurion knew, that this was far from over: by having Trollenberg's head module, he had learned about Skynet's war as well about John Connor. He also learns about Skynet attempts to kill John before his birth by assassinating Sarah Connor, and he was determined to stop Skynet from been constructed. Thus, when he returned to the 20-th century, he left a message in Trollenberg's head module to human Resistance, that if they ever needed his help, they can contact him.

In 2029, Skynet sends Terminator T-800 model into the past, with order to kill Sarah Connor. He was followed by Kyle Reese, a soldier from John's cell, to protect Sarah, however, Kyle was not only able to save Sarah, but also become the father of John. However, unlike the movie, Kyle was able to survive the destruction of Terminator, but then he was captured barely alive by FBI. He was imprisoned in top secret government facility during the events of Judgement Day, untill been free by his old friend Ben. Kyle informed Ben about his mission and tell him to also go back into the past and protect Sarah. He also give him the name of Centurion Prime, who he describes as their ally in the 20-th century. Ben travelled back into 1984, where he meet Centurion Prime, and together they set out to find Sarah Connor. However, by the time they arrived at the sight of the battle, Sarah was already gone, unaware that Kyle was still alive and captured by FBI. One month later, Ben and Centurion find Sarah in Mexico, where she was training to shoot firearms. After informing her about Kyle's whereabouts, Sarah was determined to save Kyle, and together they've set out to USA on the rescue mission, unaware, that Skynet sends another T-800 model into the past on the same mission. During which, Ben and Centurion has learned, that Sarah's already pregnant with John's baby. The rescue mission was a success, and they also destroyed the previous T-800 remains, after escaping the second T-800 model. The only thing, that was recovered by Cyberdyne Systems crew, was a T-800 hand module and damaged CPU, which was later became essential in bulding Skynet's mainframe. Meanwille, Centurion, Ben and Kyle has combat T-800, which kills Kyle, but not before the later destroys the Terminator. At the same time, Sarah give birth to John, but sadly was forced to watch Kyle die. After which, Sarah and Ben has become John's caretakers, while Ben was leaving several times, organizing those people he remembered into future Resistance. During which, Sarah and Ben meet Lucy Castro, a former police officer form New-York, which had a run in with another Terminator, who was misdirected by Skynet. Now, the two woman and one man resistance cell was taking care of John, while Centurion was fighting his own war against Skynet.

In 1984, a nine-member Resistance Cell arrived form the future, lead by colonel Mary Randall. Their mission was to destroy doctor Bertram Hollister, which was incharge of the Skynet's development program. They contacted Centurion, which helped them with their base of operations, clothing, weapons and information. However, the group was been followed by the four Terminator team, which was programmed to protect Hollister and make sure, that Skynet is been build. Mary was able to get Hollister's assistant doctor Astin, but then the Terminators killed almost all Mary's team. However, one of the Terminators, I825.M, was turned out to be a hybrid, which destroys two of the Terminators. He than revealed, that before the war he was surgeon Dudley Halsey, specialist in traumatology, but when Skynet started the war, he became field medic. Then Skynet bombed the hospital and captured him, turning him into a cyborg. The reason of his salvation was the creation of the T-800 models, which was created as infiltration unit. In order to T-800 operates on field undetected, Skynet needed information about humans, thus Dudley become I825.M spy unit. While he operates as medic on the field, at the same time feeding the information to Skynet. But, when the Skynet sends him and the other Terminators into 1984, Dudley has rebelled against Skynet, determined to stop the creation of his master.

Meanwille, the last Terminator has switched into his secondary objective - find and kill Sarah Connor, at the same time another T-800 model has arrived in order to protect Hollister, which developing Skynet by using one of the Terminator's head module as a prototype. Dudley informed Mary and Centurion about Terminator's secondary objective, and together they've set out to Mexico to save Sarah. Centurion also informed Ben and Lucy about Terminator threat, and they immediatly toke Sarah away from Mexico City, where Mary, Centurion and Dudley prepared a trap for the Terminator. The trap was to use the electromagnet to temporary shut down the Terminator and reprogram him into destroy another, which already was underway. The result was a massive battle between two Terminators, which one was destroyed, while the other, returning back into original programming, used the former unit's chassie as the parts needed for repairs.

Returning to USA, Mary and Centurion has learned, that Dudley have a problem: his terminator part is slowly but surely taking over his human part. Mary and Centurion used the help of doctor Astin, but the later tricked them by downloading all about Terminators and runned straight to Hollister. Meanwille, another Resistance team arrived from the future, lead by captain Emmer. What followed was a battle royal between the Resistance, police and Terminator, during which Emmer's team got killed, Astin and Hollister also got killed, while Centurion and Mary was able to destroy Terminator with the help of police detective Mark Sloane.

Following which, Mary was living a new life, when suddenly she and Centurion has runned into Dudley. He informed them, that future has changed: there's a new fighter in John Connor's cell - Jane Connor, his sister. She's currently leading the assault against Skynet's facility, which is desperate to stop this new fighter. Skynet has only two hours to live, but those two hours in the future are two weeks in the past. That's why a new Terminator is send there to stop the birth of Jane Connor. After which, Dudley has destroys himself, because his Terminator part was now out of control. Mary, Centurion and Sloane went into Texas, where Lucy and Ben already brought Sarah into Dallas hospital. What follows was a battle between Terminator, Mary, Centurion and Sloane, during which Jane Connor was finally born. Because of that, Skynet in the future was destroyed, thus never allowing to send the Terminator into the past, which dissapear from existance.

Following this, Mary and Mark became lovers, while Ben and Lucy became caretakers of Jane Connor, at the same time Sarah was taking care of John. It's been also decided, that John should never know, that he have a sister, so that Skynet would never come looking for her again.

In 1988, a duo of Terminators makes appearance in Valley of Death, searching for John, but they were destroyed by lonely bounty hunter van Dirk and John Norden, the last survivor of Norden family, which was killed by the Terminators. Hearing this, Sarah was forced to run from one state to another, even changing her name several time. In 1989, Sarah and John was under attack by the Terminator during the celebration of the New Year, but they were saved by Centurion Prime, who arrived just in time to destroy the T-800 model.

In 1990, Sarah and John were again came under attack by the Terminator in Metropolis, this time the advanced T-900 model, which were equipped with eye-lasers. They were saved by Centurion and Superman, who's later destroys two more T-900 models, after which both taking into year 2029. In future, Centurion and Superman meet future John Connor and aged Steel, which informed them, that they were trying to stop Terminator T-900's, but were unable to pull back the sended models. After gearing up, Superman and Centurion were set up to destroy Skynet in the future in order to get back into the past. Uknown to them, the old Superman's foe Metallo has contacted Skynet by using one of the T-900 head module as a message bottle, and Skynet has sends T-900X, the Terminatrix, into the past to destroy John Connor, while at the same time sending the entire army of T-900 into the past. Supergirl and Superboy did their best to fight the swarm of killer robots, and even Lex Luthor has joined the fight against the Terminators, while Metallo and Terminatrix were looking for John. In 2029, with the help of Batman, who was able to shut down the defence system, the Resistance pushed forward, assisted by Centurion, Superman and Steel, but inside they've meet Sky-1, the embodiment of Skynet, which paralized the heroes. Fortunately, they were able to escape and destroy Sky-1, but it turned out, that Skynet is more, than just a computer. This forced Centurion and Superman to use a massive EMP bomb to destroy all machines on Earth. After returning to the past, Centurion and Superman helped Supergirl and Superboy to destroy the Terminators, using the machine virus developed by Lex Luthor, but Metallo has fused with Terminatrix, claiming that he will become Skynet. However, because of the virus Metallo was forced to disengage from the Terminatrix and runaway. After which, Sarah, impressed by the courage of Superman and Centurion, has decided to quit running around destroy the Skynet herself, while Luthor, still holding several T-900 components, hoping that he will create Skynet and controlls it.

In 1991, Sarah has tried to destroy the Cyberdyne Systems, but failed and incarcerated in mental clinic. Meanwille, two new Terminators have arrived, one was T-800 model, reprogrammed by John Connor in future to protect his past self, while other was T-1000, a much more advanced model, equipped with the liquid metal alloy in order for better infiltration. The T-800 contacted Centurion, and together they were able to find and save John, however, after that they've learned, that John's foster parents are dead, killed by T-1000. After which, John, T-800 and Centurion went into clinic to save Sarah, but they've barely escaped from T-1000. Following which, Sarah and Centurion have learned about history of Skynet from T-800, as well as it's main creator, Myles Dyson. Sarah was determined to kill him, but Centurion rejected that idea: he told Sarah, that even if they kill Miles, somebody will takeover his research and complete Skynet. They must destroy the lab in order to prevent the birth of the Terminators. They've visited Myles and explain him all about his work, after which Miles has decided to join them in stopping the Skynet. Together they were able to sease the CPU chip of the first T-800 as well as Hand unit, but then the police arrived, wounding Miles, who sacrificed himself in destroying the lab. Then, T-1000 arrived, following a chase to steel mill, where T-1000 was melted into vat of molten steel. After which, John destroys the CPU and hand, but T-800 also sacrificed himself, so that no Terminators were build.

Unfortunately, the events were only temporary slow down Skynet's birth, which was later developed into sattelite network. It was then a new soldier arrived from the future, Florence Langer, this time on the mission to kill RoboCop, Alex Murphy. The Resistance in future was able to find out, that the main reason Skynet became self aware was the ability of consciousness, which allows Skynet to learn at geometrical rate. That ability was granted by fusing the CPU with human brain, mainly RoboCop, which was the only human, who can merge with the computer. That is why Florence came into year 1991, Detroyth City. But she was followed by trio of T-800, who's programmed into protecting their "creator". However, RoboCop, who was assisted by Centurion Prime, was became aware of Skynet's plans by infiltrating the satellite network, and they employed two ED-209 units, which battle the three T-800 models. The battle was harsh, but in the end RoboCop was victorious, wounded, but still a winner. After which, Murohy has decided to kill himself in order to save humanity, but then a new duo of Terminators have arrived, this time one of them was T-1000000, which uses elements of both T-1000 and Terminatrix. Against such foes, Centurion and RoboCop was no match, and they were able to destroy RoboCop's body, minus the head, which they used it to give Skynet consciousness, thus starting the Judgment Day six years earlier. However, neither Centurion or Murphy were giving up: Centurion has used the prototype time machine to travel into the future, while Murphy was able to extract himslef from his own mind, thus escaping into computer network, helping the Resistance the way he can. In 2031, Centurion was able to hack into Terminator factory main computer, thus allowing Murphy to take control of the factory. Murphy has uses T-800 chassie to recreate his RoboCop body, and with Centurion they set off to help the Resistance. They've became Florence Langer friends, and after she saw, that Murphy was able to control the factory, she give them the idea of building an army of their own. Thus Murphy was able to create a brigade of Robo-Soldiers, while Centurion came up with the plan of destroying Skynet once and for all: while the main bulk of Resistance and Robo-Soldiers would keep the Terminators busy, he and RoboCop's team will attack Skynet's main core. During the battle, Florence was gravely injured, but she was able to say the words of insipration to Murphy: "Murphy... get them for me!" (Murphy would later remember those words, when his partner Lois would be injured) When Murphy and Centurion entered Skynet's main core (which was original RoboCop's head, only larger), the terminator tried to reasoned with RoboCop by saying, that "We are one, you are we, creator. Don't destroy your own children". But Murphy rebuffed it by saying: "You're nothing but junk, Skynet! The only thing i want from you is to shut up and DIE!" He then uses his spike to access all HK and Terminators and triggered their self-destruct sequence, while Centurion blasting Skynet's machines. Skynet then screamed: "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!" to which Centurion replies: "I have one more thing for you: a present from John Connor!" He then tossed a bomb to Skynet's CPU and then said: "It's said - Asta la Vista, baby!" He and RoboCop flew off, while Skynet screams "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" before loud explosion.

As they returned to the battlefield, they've found Florence dying, but before she passed away, RoboCop said to her: "Sleep, my friend. I promise, when you wake up, the world would be much better". After which, Centurion and Murphy gear up for one more trip to the past, but not before Centurion rigged the TDE unit into sending anyone, who would follow them, into Jurrasic period. Once Centurion and future RoboCop arrived into 1991, they've blast off into space, where they destroyed Skynet's satellite network, thus finishing Terminators for good. Because of that, future RoboCop was gone, while original Murphy suddenly felt the need to get some sleep, as he told Centurion. As he was driving home, Centurion remarked: "Alex Murphy... RoboCop... Who would knew, that one man would means so much for the world: his machine part has almost destroys the world, while the human part has saved it".

In 2031, Florence Langer wake up from her sleep, seeing all her past events as nothing more than a dream. She then went into her laboratory, where she works as a space scientist. Back in the remaining Terminator realm, which was almost destroyed, only one unit was able to follow Centurion and RoboCop into the past, but thanks to the Centurion's trap, he went into Jurassic period - straight into T-Rex foot, which crushed that Terminator into nothing. While in the past, Centurion explains to Sarah, Ben, Lucy, John and Jane, Mark, Mary and Miles, who wasn't die, thanks to change of the future, that the war is over, and they can finally live their life the way they see it fit. Thus the War against Terminators was over, but the battle for the future has begun.

WASHINGTON, JULY 11, 2029, SUNDAY, 10: 12 A.M.

The sun was shining brilliantly in a bright blue sky. Beneath it, the Park was lush and green. People were dressed in summer clothes, who was wearing what. They rode bicycles and read… The kids played on the Playground swinging on the rings, slid from the hills. The carousel hadn't melted or burned, and the children were whirling on it, shrieking. A bright-eyed kid pedaled a tricycle. Children's fun remained unchanged in the era of technological progress.

Beyond the trees, the famous Capitol dome and the white spire of the Washington monument loomed on the white horizon of the capital. But there were also buildings that didn't exist before: tall skyscrapers that grew as a result of big changes. Poor people lived in skyscrapers, and this was made possible by government laws passed through the Senate by a young impudent politician. Apartments were not provided for free-residents had to work for them, but the price was set depending on the capabilities and abilities of each. And that was fair.

The twenty-ninth of August 1997 has came and went. And nothing happened. Michael Jackson turned forty. People, as always, went to work. They laughed, grieved, watched TV, made love. The day of judgment has not come.Sarah Connor sat in her room for twenty-four hours, holding her breath. And when the sun rose again in the morning and she was sure that nothing had happened, she wanted to run out into the street, grab the hands of passers - by and say to them:

— From now on, every day is a gift from above for you. Use it for good.

But they'd probably think she was crazy, and Sarah was fed up with the psych ward. Instead, she got drunk. Of course, Sarah had a lot of love affairs, and there were some very beautiful men, but she never married. Sarah, however, was not upset. Kyle wasn't dead. And his case was not lost. It was thanks to Kyle, thanks to his self-sacrifice, that the time loop was untied. Kyle was in the middle of it. He got out from under the ruins, preserving the genotype that helped him survive and create forces that can change history. But… Where did he come from? Who was his mother? Kyle wasn't dead, he lived somewhere in her world and was obviously married to a nice woman, had children, and some kind of peaceful profession. And, of course, he wasn't meant to meet Sarah, and love her. He wouldn't even know why she was looking at him with eyes full of tears of love and gratitude. After all, he wouldn't be the Kyle Reese she'd once loved and gone back in time to die before he was born. For it. For humanity. To John Connor.

Thirty years have passed since then. But a dark, never-to-be-seen future still existed for Sarah. And it must always have been there, like the glimmer of a dream gradually fading in the morning light. The war with the machines continued. Rather, the war with those who created harmful machines for the implementation of misanthropic designs. For the Skynet was just the only extension of people's hatred of their own kind. And she found a solution that none of the enslavers had thought of. Complete destruction. Some people still dreamed of creating their own Skynets. While others struggled with them. At the moment, those others have won. Even though there were still wars, famines, and corrupt governments in the world, people had moved up one step on the evolutionary ladder — but almost no one noticed. No one, except a few people who had defied fate or, as it now seemed to Sarah, had taken some more correct path in life. And now, years later, Sarah turned into a fragile beauty with some strange scars and a bittersweet glint in her eyes. Men fell in love with her without reciprocating. But one of them, of course, she adored. Now, sitting in the shade of a tree, she looked at this forty-year-old man who was playing nearby with two small children.

John Connor had the same hard features as in the other time dimension, but there was no patch over his eye and no scars on his face. He was very different from the haggard man with a hard life that he would have been if the world had taken a different path. But John's eyes were still sharp and intelligent. After all, his character was tempered in the crucible of love, and wisdom was forged on the anvil of the will. Sarah smiled, looking at John with maternal pride, and spoke into a small voice recorder:

- John is fighting a different battle now, not as fate would have it. His battlefield is the Senate, and his weapons are common sense and hope.

Sarah lowered the recorder, remembering how she had made notes for her son before he was born, long ago, on a windswept Mexican highway. She thought of the book she'd read on the tape recorder during the years John had been growing up. Of course, Sarah had kept all these notes, and was even adding something to them now. This oral tradition should be preserved in her family and passed down from generation to generation, until, perhaps, it becomes a fairy-tale myth. Or an immutable fact… When humanity finally learns to travel through time.

Suddenly, she heard a voice:

- Long time no see, Sarah.

She turns and see Centurion, who stand in side by her. Sarah smiles:

- Nice to see you again, commander.

They shake hands, while Centurion watched John play with his children, a beautiful girl and a boy.

- So, how's our senator doing?

- Good. Next weak, he's gonna announce a new social program for the children.

- Sounds good.

A pretty four-year-old girl ran up to her and pointed at her shoe.

- Tie my shoelace, Granny.

Grandma Sarah smiled sweetly as she bent over the little girl's foot, which she had placed on the bench. When it was done, the girl kissed Sarah on the cheek and ran to play with her father. Centurion smiled:

- A pretty girl. I wonder, what she grown up into?

- Who knows? The future is not set.

- I know. Well, gotta go, my wife calling me for dinner.

- Tell her my thanks, Centurion.

- I will. Bye!

Centurion walks away, while Sarah continues to sit on the bench. Don't feel sorry for Sarah. She knew love. And now she had time to think about the past and see the future. While her son continued the fight she and Kyle had started. Sarah picked up the recorder again and said, looking up at the sky, at the bright azure that had been cleared of taint:

- The luxury of hope was given to me by the Terminator. Because if a machine can understand the value of human life, then perhaps we can, too.

Sarah turned off the recorder and leaned back, letting the gentle breeze wash over her face.
