Andorian torpedo boat by davemetlesits Andorian torpedo boat by davemetlesits
Introducing the Lor'Vela class torpedo boat, the backbone of the Andorian Home Guard, the sister organization of the First Fleet.

Lor'Velas are characterized by immense missile power but low beam weapon capacity and mediocre speed and manouverability. The small, compact design makes her a cramped, overcrowded ship, even for her 230 crewmembers.

Lor'Velas saw major action during the First Battle of Cait, when they helped the First Fleet and the Caitians in pushing back the Kzinti, ending the Third Man-Kzin War.

Nice looking ship Dave :) would look more andorian tho if the nacelles weren't visible from the front. All the ones I've seen like the old Thufir destroyer had their warp nacelles behind big hulking bays and blast shields. Just my 10c, You don't see many people doing other federation races designs these days so this is a refreshing change. Keep the good work up mate :D

Thank you very much!

The main idea comes from a round of FASA Star Fleet Battles I participated in with a friend of mine. One of my ship was an Andor class torpedo boat with only two phasers and as many torpedoes to stuff a horse with. Half of the ship was already completed by then, so I finished it like this.

All the andorian ships I've seen had one characteristic in common their warp nacelles were embedded or mounted within a horseshoe of hull. Having them ventrally like this makes them vulnerable to attack whereas the usual design had the sensitive main intercoolers only targets from directly above and below. I'll scan a couple and put them in scraps for you.

they look ugly in the ortho's but the thufir is one hell of a looker when you see it, very sleek.

What's the size compared to a Connie? And are they still in service during TOS?

It also looks like the Mirandas took a few design elements from these vessels...

It's a TOS era boat. The main hull is a TOS Connie type saucer.

Nice work, going to do any more of this design? Looks similar to the Loknar, BTW which is supposed to have been built at the Andorian shipyards.

Nicely done, though it does look too "Federationy" In most of the pictures of early Federation members ships I have seen most kept at least something of the home race's characteristics.

Well, in the FASA RPG, Andor houses one of the premier space shipyards, building and designing federation as well as their own vessels.

Ha lol, there are way too many RPG's, Games, Fan Stories and so on to keep up with. I guess you might say I am a Roddenberry purist, if he thought of it and made it then cool, beyond that - nope.

It's from the TOS era. The Andorians, like all other Fed members, have their own independent space navy, the Home Guard. They use this ship as their main design.

Nice work, looks brilliant... although from the thumbnail I kinda thought it was a funky face on the planet... and now I can't stop seeing that :P. But anyways, yeah, love the design, keep up the good work :)
